Indie World Showcase August 19, 2019


A lot of interesting indie titles for Nintendo Switch were revealed today, so let's recap the Indie World Showcase:

  • Risk of Rain 2 was shown first and is coming Summer 2019. It's a rogue-like game where you can team up with others to take down the enemy.
  • Eastward was shown next and is reminiscent of the Mother series.
  • Freedom Finger was the third title shown and is a shoot 'em up featuring a finger. Music will be provided by numerous rock bands (trailer features music from Red Fang) and is coming to Switch in Fall 2019.
  • Roki, a game where you can befriend wildlife, is coming this Winter.
  • A trailer for Torchlight 2 was shown next and is coming soon.
  • A trailer for Skater XL is shown next and looks to be a simple, throwback skateboarding game with physics and full board control. Coming in 2020.
  • A neat gravity-based puzzle platformer is shown next. That game is called Youropa and is coming this Winter.
  • A trailer for Superhot was shown next and was announced to be releasing today.
  • Dungeon Defenders: Awakened was shown next and appears to be the origin story of the original Dugeon Defenders. Coming to Switch first in February 2020.
  • The Touryst, a Shin'en game, was shown next and utilizes an overhead, blocky style. Appears to be some kind of openworld adventure game that features an arcade. Coming to Switch this November. 
  • A trailer for Skellboy was shown next and is coming December 3, 2019
  • A trailer for Earth Knight was shown next and appears to be an over-the-top, runner-like platformer. Coming in 2019.
  • Hotline Miami Collection featuring both Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2 was announced for Switch. This collection is launching today on the Nintendo eShop.
  • Lastly, a showcase reel featuring a variety of indie titles was shown to close out today's presentation.
  • A surprise last announcement was shown before the video actually came to an end. It was to announce Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch. Coming September 27, 2019.
