Best of VG Music: Hot-Head Bop - Donkey Kong Country 2

I was going to save this entry for next week, but last night's debut went over well, so here we are today. Also, it's nice to provide some content while I work on the Whipseey and the Lost Atlas review. With that being said, let's get on to my personal experience with this track.

It was January 1996 and I was celebrating my 10th birthday. I had no idea that Donkey Kong Country 2 was waiting for me on that day, but it's not like I was able to enjoy it anyways. I was sick, I'm talking a fever of 100+ sick. I tried to play my new Super Nintendo game, but instead I was more comfortable in bed, sippin on liquid Gravol, and holding on for dear life. Oh, I was also watching my brother play this fantastic game. He breezed through the first area, and then he came to Crocodile Cauldron.

He jumped into Hot-Head Hop and that's when I heard the bubbling lava. I was in a trance-like state, feeling the heat of my fever being matched with the bouncing rhythm. Waves of nausea washed over me as I stared at the volcanic red lava flowing in the background. I was really enjoying the music, but it was all too much for me to handle and I was soon relieving my demons into a nearby bucket. I did get to play through the game myself a few days after, but I'll forever remember just how feverish that evening was.
